-Let me just start by saying I received soooo many compliments on this dress! People could not believe it was a maternity piece (thanks to modern maternity fashion design). Gone are the days where us preggo ladies have to wear bag-like dresses that do everything but flatter and accentuate our curves!The material of this dress was to die for and the side ruching allowed for just the amount of stretch needed to cover my growing bump.

-It was recommended that I accessorize with an orange beaded necklace to give a pop of color and draw out the orange. Necklace compliments of my Mommy’s closet. (Thanks Ma!)

-I also chose to pair these camel studded wedges from Charlotte Russe with my ensemble. They match perfectly with my cross body bag too. #Winning

Look #2 : James Perse Casual White Dress

-When the term “comfort is key” was coined, this dress had to be the point of reference. I actually just wore this dress this past Sunday for church, brunch, and to attend my classmate’s baby shower in Louisiana. Talk about versatility! This is a spin on your typical shirt dress as it adds a drawstring waist that can be tied below the belly. This is definitely a piece that can grow with you throughout pregnancy. In your early trimesters, you can simply drape the excess material over the drawstring or if you’re further along or a little plumper (like myself), you can appreciate the much-needed extra fabric in trimester 3.

-I decided to add a little of my Louisiana / Texas gal flair by finishing this look with a good ‘ole pair of cowgirl boots.

-I did have to wear a pair of black maternity tights under this dress as it was somewhat transparent.

By the way, who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? I’m pretty sure that whoever made that rule knew that it was made to be broken.

Let's face it: With a baby in tow, popping out of the house at a moment's notice just isn't an option. But you'll have one less thing to worry about if you keep your diaper bag stocked and ready to go.

"The key to diaper bags—and any sort of bag that travels—is restocking," says Mary Carlomagno, a mother of two, professional organizer, and author of "The Secrets of Simplicity." "My biggest trick is restocking the moment I come home and keeping duplicates of everything.

"I look at it like a survival kit," she continues. "If you and your baby get stuck somewhere, this will answer all of your and your kid's needs."

Be systematic about how you organize your diaper bag. Don't have enough pockets to stash your stuff? Extra diapers can go inside a large plastic bag, while a backup pacifier can go in a smaller one. However, you decide to organize and use the bag, do it the same way each time and a messy diaper change will be no big deal.

Whether you're packing a diaper bag for an afternoon play date or a week-long trip, the checklist below can help you make it out the door prepared:

1. At least five or six diapers if you'll be out most of the day.
2. A travel pack of baby wipes. (You can buy them in bulk and restock a smaller travel holder as needed.)
3. Hand sanitizer for cleaning your hands before and after diaper changes if you won't be near soap and water.
4. A changing pad.
5. Zinc oxide diaper-rash ointment and/or antibacterial ointment, such as Neosporin (or generic bacitracin).
6. Plastic bags for soiled disposable diapers, wet bottles, or clothes. (Some diaper bags come with one of these.)
7. A complete change of baby clothes, including socks, a hat, sweater, and/or jacket if it's chilly out.
8. Extra formula and sterilized non-fluoridated water (if you're bottle-feeding). Carlomagno suggests keeping a bottle packed and ready with the formula already measured inside.
9. Snacks such as cereal and crackers in plastic containers with lids or plastic bags, and an insulated bag for cold items such as yogurt or breast milk.
10. A baby spoon in a plastic bag or other reusable bag to keep it clean.
11. A bib or two.
12. Two spare clean pacifiers (if your baby uses them).
13. A book or toy for your baby to hold.
14. A small towel or burp cloth to mop up spit-ups and spills.
15. A small first-aid kit with baby pain and fever relievers.

Most likely your baby shower will occur during the last trimester of your pregnancy, which means you will have ample opportunity to show off your bump. However, it's not easy to know what to wear that will accentuate your baby bump and of course you! Show Off Your Bump!

Don't hide your bump from the world. Your baby shower is all about celebrating the baby that you're welcoming into the world. Choose a light dress that flows over your curves and gently highlights your bump, such as a maternity maxi dress. 

To make it more figure-flattering, choose a maternity dress that is ruched which will cinches your waist above your bump, but again avoid anything too tight. For an extra special touch, choose a dress in feminine colors and patterns if you're expecting a girl; and darker colors, such as navy blue, if you're expecting a boy.

Tight clothing can be really uncomfortable during the last few months of your pregnancy and can even cause problems like heartburn or pain. We recommended that you choose comfortable fabrics that are stretchy, made with breathable cotton, and have elastic waistbands so you can look good and feel great.

Your hormones can wreak havoc on your body temperature, causing you to feel hot or cold from one minute to the next, which can be very uncomfortable. When in doubt, tighter is better. Normally I advocate for the opposite while pregnant, but when it comes to maternity photos, we want to SEE THE BUMP. Not only that, but when you dress in form fitting clothes, you can pose in a number of ways, not just the cup-hand-under-belly pose.

Never underestimate the power of a skinny belt. Once you really started showing, around 26 weeks, try wearing a skinny belt (pre pregnancy belts) at the top of my bump almost every day. If you don’t want to invest in a lot of maternity clothes (I didn’t!), you can get away with wearing your regular loose tops, belted above your belly. This look is super flattering because it cinches the thinnest part of your body. 

Wedges are your best friend. If you can rock a pair of heels while 9 months pregnant, more power to you. Wedges will make you look just as tall, and you’ll be a lot more comfortable during the 1-2 hours of shooting. Nude wedges are always a good choice with a shorter dress because they elongate your legs.
